Pantone 2018 Color of the Year: Ultra Violet
Pantone has just unveiled Ultra Violet (PANTONE 18-3838) as the Color of the Year for 2018. This shade of purple evokes magic, artistic brilliance, the future and higher vibrations.
Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute, speaks on the significance behind each year's choice on their website, "The Pantone Color of the Year has come to mean so much more than ‘what’s trending’ in the world of design; it’s truly a reflection of what’s needed in our world today.” With the recent cultural shift around sexual assault in Hollywood and beyond, many have been quick to relate Ultra Violet to the activist community by the same name championing the fight against sexism and violence towards women.
Laurie Pressman adds, “As individuals around the world become more fascinated with color and realize its ability to convey deep messages and meanings, designers and brands should feel empowered to use color to inspire and influence.” We couldn't agree more and look forward to seeing more fearless use of color in interior design during 2018. This past spring we launched Facet Collection (featured above) in collaboration with designer Michelle Workman. Inspired by Hollywood Glam Deco, the collection is at once timeless and of-the-moment featuring an array of colorways and rich hues, including flashes of Ultra Violet.
